Be Prepared To Succeed
So, you want to start your own home based business. Congratulations, you are joining a group of thousands of people worldwide that want to do the same thing. Unfortunately, most will fail because they are not prepared. They don’t spend enough time learning about what works and what does not work. They tend to get hooked and reeled in by slick ads that promise quick success and stories of how Joe guru is making millions with the program he wants you to buy. Just because you work from home does not mean you can ignore all the basic business principals for success.
Essentially you have two broad choice categories for a new start up business from home. First, and the easiest, is to join an existing program where everything has been created for you and all you need to do is plug-in and follow their directions. Second, you can create your own website and business plan and be totally unique. Which ever way you decide to go you must understand that you will only succeed if you first plan and prepare to succeed. I believe in the old saying that “there ain’t no such thing as a free lunch.”
You will find no lack of people who will want to tell you how to do things by doing it their way. Of course I to have my favorites. I’ve purchased and used materials from Ann Sieg, Mike Dillard, Derek Gehl, Yanik Silver, Dave Sherwin and many others. They put out some great information. Some of the best advice they give has it’s roots in direct marketing techniques as taught by Dan Kennedy.
However, to keep this post from becoming a book in itself let me just make my suggestion. Realize that without a written plan to follow your chances of success have decreased dramatically. If you’ve never written a plan for a business before you can go to the library and find all kinds of books to help you.
