Marketing With Twitter

2twitterbirdsA lot of people are now marketing with Twitter.  By being active with twitter they gain followers who are interested in what they have going on. People are being exposed to their updates on a regular basis. For example, if you have hundreds of followers in Twitter and you decide to post an an offer with an affiliate link, that means that hundreds of people have potentially been exposed to your offer instantly. I say potentially because although your post may go to hundreds of followers, only a fraction of those following you are likely to actually see and read your post. Fewer yet will click on your link.

However, the larger the number of followers you have, assuming they are in the niche you are and have an interrest in your subject, the more potential you have for large numbers of people actually seeing what you are offering. And the cost for your ad is certainly right since it’s FREE.

“What are you doing (?)” is the whole foundation of what Twitter is about. But, from a marketing standpoint I find thinking in terms of “what are you interested in (?)” to be much more apealing.  Numerous tweets of 140 words or less telling me that someone just got up and they are about to eat thier wheaties, or it’s time to take a shower, etc. leaves me rather bored.  However, a post telling me they will be attending the computer conference in LasVegas, or they are interested in network marketing, etc., peaks my interest to learn more about them.

If I find the person’s post of interest, I’m much more likely to click on a link they provide me that leads to a product sale for them. In fact I don’t mind receiving those types of posts at all as long as they are not allways trying to get me to go somewhere to buy something. There are many different strategies available for marketing with Twitter. A good starting resource is the recently completed book by Dave Sherwin called “Twitter-Pated.” It’s temporarily available for Free at the top right side of my blog.
